Now that I have designated a specific time in my daily routine to do my daily missions, I still have to actually complete them. With this, I struggle. I think it might have to do with a little voice in my head that says, “But you already do so MUCH every day. How can you possibly complete a mission, too?” The little voice is not lying about my doing much every day. So many of Flylady’s habits have become mine, too. Every day I get dressed to the shoes, eat breakfast, re-boot the laundry, make lunch and supper (based on my menu), make the bed, exercise (which involves more like 60 minutes of loving movement instead of 15 minutes), shine my sink, drink my water…well, you get the picture. And that’s in addition to homeschooling and getting people to therapy appointments on a regular basis.
But, that doesn’t mean that I don’t have time for the daily mission.
So, yesterday, I was telling Joey that this week’s Zone is the kitchen and the daily mission was to “look up.” I asked him, since he had the day off, if he would help me. Joey’s love language is Acts of Service. Need I say more? Not only did he help me with cleaning off the lights, but while I was gone birding with Tim in the afternoon, he replaced the light bulb in the refrigerator and really scrubbed down the stove. Talk about being encouraged in this week’s Zone! I am pumped to keep on keepin’ on.
Today, I plan to wipe down the cupboard doors. Let’s see if I can convince the little voice that I do have time.
